After 24 years as head of the rig department at Westcon Yards, Malvin Eide is now handing over the responsibility to Nils Mikal Sørhaug from 1st of May 2023.
Malvin has been with the company since 1999 as head of the rig department.
Sørhaug has managed the offshore department at Westcon Yards for the past 4 years and is now entering the position as rig- and offshore manager.
He has also been involved in the offshore industry since 1996, educated as chief engineer and has experience from both diving vessels, construction vessels and rigs. The last 8 years before joining Westcon, he was involved in construction, completion,and operation of drilling rigs.
Sørhaug is now looking forward to take over as manager of the business area for rigs and offshore.
Since the first rig arrived at the yard in 1994, we have had over 160 rigs visiting the yard.
In addition, we know the rigs well from assignments carried out offshore.
- We sure have built up a lot of rig expertise in the company, and we have a hard-working staff who are great at finding good solutions. In addition, we have exceptionally good facilities at the shipyard. Everything is set to welcome more rig assignments in the future as well, says Sørhaug.
