Normand Subsea is currently getting her classification and a new paint job at Westcon Yards Florø. The ship is an advanced construction ship for ROV underwater operations, and was delivered to Solstad Offshore in 2009 by Palmer Johnson Norway AS at Angholmen in Flekkefjord.

The ship is 113 x 24 meters and has accommodation facilities for approximately 90 people. During her stay in Florø, the ship will receive a full paint job, an overhaul of all thrusters, bottom and overboard valves, service on propulsion engines, coolers and cranes, etc.

Manager for Ship Repair at Yards Florø, Terje Totland, estimates a 3-week stay for Normand Subsea at Westcon’s yard in Florø.

Since 2018, Solstad Offshore has had a framework agreement with Westcon Yards, something both Yards and Totland is very happy with.

- It means we are the preferred yards in Norway for service on their vessels.

Totland believes there are multiple reasons why Solstad Offshore continues to choose Westcon Yards as their service provider.

- There are probably many reasons for that, but I’d say our geographic locations along the Norwegian coast has a lot to do with it. The fact that we have 3-4 yards provides a lot of flexibility for the customer. As well as quality and price, which are important.

The feedback from the shipping company itself has been constructive, and Totland is happy with the many successful projects that have been completed so far.

- We have a good relationship with Solstad Offshore. We strive to give great service to the shipping company in the best possible way, so that they can complete their yard stays according to plans and classification demands. We have completed many projects together, and they tell us they are happy with the results.
