This February, Westcon Yards delivered 16 deck hatches to Aker Solutions in Verdal, Norway. The hatches are mounted on platform Hod B, which is built close to the yard, and has Aker BP as end customer.

The hatches themselves are 2.5 x 2.5 meters and are delivered in accordance with a range of specific demands. They are weatherproof, preserve the strength of the deck structure and can be fitted anywhere on hatch decks.
These deck hatches are secured from falling through the hatch opening and are dimensioned to resist a given explosion force.
Every hatch has 8 locks which are operated from the topside. They have a unique construction which enables correct positioning when closing, as well as releasing themselves from the hatch opening when lifted off.

Westcon Yards has delivered similar hatches to Valhall Flanke West and to the Ivar Aasen platform.
