The acquisition demonstrates Westcon’s commitment to maintaining a strong presence in the oil and gas market, particularly in the fabrication of subsea modules.
The transition is subject to approval from the competition authorities and is expected to be formally completed by mid-January 2025.
Agility and Westcon complement each other well. Agility is a market leader in SPS (Subsea Production Systems), while Westcon has strong expertise in SURF (Subsea Umbilicals, Risers, and Flowlines). Together, we are now solidly positioned to meet the future needs of the subsea sector, says Steinar Matre, Subsea Manager at Westcon Yards.
Strategic Strengthening in the Subsea Market
Since 2013, Westcon has pursued a clear strategy of becoming a leading player in both the SPS and SURF markets. “Future developments will largely focus on subsea solutions. Together with Agility, we can offer our customers comprehensive solutions and contribute to the development of new technologies,” Matre continues.
Synergies and New Market Opportunities
Agility and Westcon see significant potential for creating synergies. Westcon is a family-owned group focusing on long-term investments and stable partnerships with customers. An example of this is the strategic partnership both Westcon and Agility have with the same large subsea client. This partnership, which extends over several years, provides a solid foundation for operations.
The two companies fit together perfectly,” says Fredrik Johannesen, Managing Director of Agility, adding, “I look forward to collaborating closely with Westcon on future subsea projects. We have world-class expertise that they need, and vice versa.
