This is the second ferry Westcon delivers to NORLED and has provided work to over 150 of Westcon’s employees.

The sister ferry «MF Hydra”, which will be the world’s first hydrogen driven car ferry, is underway as we speak.

Westcon Yards would like to thank NORLED, LMG Marin, Westcon Power & Automation, and all their other partners for a great collaboration on this project.

Moving Standards

- We are very happy that NORLED chose Westcon to build this ship. This is in line with Westcon’s focus on delivering quality ships to quality shipping companies, says Manager for Newbuilds Endre Matre.

- Flexibility, competent workers, efficient mobilization and an ability to deliver are our characteristics, says Matre. He continues to explain that Westcon’s yard in Ølen has been a total supplier of ships and ferries, which through many years have moved the standards of innovation, use of technology and sustainable solutions.

Westcon has many decades of experience with building fishing and offshore vessels. The company is, with its locations in Ølen, Karmsund, Florø and Helgeland, the leading supplier of repair and remodeling of ships and rigs in the North Sea.

- Our strategy is to build activity beyond the offshore marked, and we are satisfied to see that through this delivery we are proving that we are competitive in building ferries. It’s a tough, international market, and together with our employees we are pleased to see the results from many years of hard work, in every aspect of the company. We are proud, but still humbled by the confidence our clients show us, says Matre.

Happy with the result

- We are very happy to have yet another zero-emission vessel in Norled’s fleet. We want to thank Westcon Yards, LMG Marin, Westcon Power & Automation, and all our other partners, for a good collaboration. It’s impressive that both the yard and the other suppliers was able to deliver MF Nesvik in accordance to the original time schedule, despite all the challenges linked to the Corona situation, says Technical Director at Norled, Sigvald Breivik in a press release.
