Westcon Yards has more than 30 years’ experience in class renewal surveys, upgrades and repairs for both Norwegian and foreign rig customers.
We are, at present, a significant supplier in the offshore sector, and offer engineer services, maintenance and modifications to drilling companies and rig owners all over the world. Our activities are specifically tailored to the rig companies’ requirements and activities.

With our yard in Ølen, in western Norway – one of Norway’s most modern and successful industrial shipyards – as the starting point, we have executed more than 150 rig contracts since 1994. Today we also execute rig contracts at our yards in Florø, Nesna, or in international waters.
It is important for us to be present in the early phase of projects in order to be able to plan the rig’s time at the yard efficiently. In order to reduce the rig’s turnaround time (during the yard stay), we carry out early phase 3D scanning and engineering work, so that much of the prefabrication work has been done before the rig arrives at the yard.
With regard to offshore installation contracts, we prefabricate as much as is possible in our workshops on land to minimize the installation period, and we send out our most experienced and multidisciplinary personnel in order to limit the number of personnel on board.
Our skilled and specialized experts handle the whole value chain in the delivery, from engineering to planning and execution phases. We always focus on the customer’s requirements in all that we do, and we deliver the agreed level of quality on time.
Our flexible workforce are able to support Mobile Offshore Drilling Units (MODU) on most locations. Our engineers know the subject areas regulations, and we have the right toolbox to implement projects cost effectively.

We focus on maximizing our customer’s uptime and assist them in achieving maximum efficiency and safety on MODU. Our engineers do hands-on work on rigs on a regular basis and we have a strong in-house workforce to take on any offshore modification.
Westcon offer qualified personnel and equipment for inspection, service and installation offshore. Competent project managers make use of Westcon’s own integrated project management tool and project execution model to manage our projects. Westcon’s engineering capacity consist of 150 engineers. Our toolbox is efficient and we utilize accurate 3D survey and engineering applications in our engineering. Westcon is ISO 9001-certified.
Westcon has a long track record of delivering engineering services and offshore maintenance and modifications on MODU. We have extensive experience in solving various problems offshore and are able to act fast when needed. Offshore trips for surveying or problem solving is routine work for our engineers.
We perform engineering as needed and prefabricate as much as possible in our workshops onshore to reduce the installation period offshore to a minimum. For installation offshore, we use multi skilled personnel to minimize personnel onboard.
